With a large turnout, almost double last year’s, CRCA members celebrated at the end of season party at Slainte on Dec. 2. Awards were presented to the many club champions and a raffle capped off the evening.

The inestimable Dan Schmaltz presided over the evening’s proceedings.

With Jim Boyd observing, Dan presented this year’s Jim Boyd Awards. The Jim Boyd Awards go to the rider’s with the most points in the season long club racing series. Jim was key in running the club, succeeding Lou Maltese, from the mid 1980’s until 2003. He served as president, communications director, secretary and race director. While no longer racing, Jim can be seen daily riding in Central Park or up 9W.

Special awards of recognition for outstanding performance in open races were given to Evelyn Stevens, David Taylor, Peter Hurst, Fabienne Gerard and Xiefue Fan.

Some great prizes were raffled off. We are very grateful to those who donated the prizes. Blue Ribbon Restaurants, Ilan Bacharach and John Hamann of iBike, Luca Marcato of Cavatappo, Jan Pivoda of Sportique, Gabe Lloyd of Echappe, Steven LeBoyer and Jay Tarrant of Sid’s Bikes, Vinny Vicari of Mariella Pizza, Tracy Wargo of Chomper Body and Cecelia Pleva for the Peanut Butter & Company peanut butter.
