The monthly meeting of the Board of Directors of the Century Road Club Association was held on Monday, September 10th, 2007 commencing at 6:30 pm at the midtown offices of W.P. Carey. Board members Ken Harris, Ben Harris, Tony Slokar, Wendy Nickerson, Wendy Cohen, Marc Mauceri, Martha Lees, Craig Abrams, Tom Laskey, Christopher Uglietta, and Matt Howard were present. Club members Joao Correia and Eugene Boronow were present for the discussion of the CRCA Junior Development Program.
Joao Correa and Eugene Boronow discussed the equipment, coaching and monetary needs of the 2008 CRCA Junior Development Program. The squad of 10 will need approximately 5 new bikes, which the club will purchase through the Orbea discount offered by Bicycling Magazine. Coaching will be offered to Junior Development riders as the Program Director sees fit and the board approved. Eugene Boronow and Matt Howard are seeking a suitable coach.
The time, date, and location of the next meeting will be at 6:30pm on Monday, October 1st at the offices of W.P. Carey.
The minutes of the August Board meetings were approved.
The board approved the creation of the annual Lee Gorman Sportsmanship Award.
Tony Slokar, Director of Open Racing, debriefed the board on the 2007 Mengoni Grand Prix, which was determined to be a successful event.
Tony Slokar, debriefed the board on the cancellation of the 2007 Nancy Morgenstern Memorial Bear Mountain Fall Classic. Pre-registered racers will be given Paypal and check refund options.
It was decided that the September 23 club race will be held in memory of Nancy Morgenstern.
The board unanimously voted to donate $750 – $1,000 to help fund junior racer Guy East’s trip to Elite Track Nationals in Colorado.
