Support the Alzheimer’s Association

The Alzheimer’s Memory Walk is this Sunday. Please come between 10:00am-11:00am and see Foundation on the podium. Right now the team is in 2nd place.

As of 9:33am 10/18/2010- we are in 2nd place—–(note: all money is due by noon this Friday).

1st place –$18,162.00
2nd place—$15,438.00
3rd place—-$12,021.00

Currently more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer’s, and 78 million baby boomers are at risk – unless we find a way to change the course of this disease.

From Ric Wolfe

Dear All,

Rod and I are heading up the Food drive for impoverished in the city. As our primary charity – Food Bank only needs help on weekdays – we felt a weekend event would be more appropriate with an effort sponsored by City Harvest a similar charity.

With the holiday season coming up and in the spirit of one of Foundation’s objectives, we have identified an opportunity to give back to our community. On Saturday November 6th from 9am until no later than noon (but likely finishing earlier…) we will be helping City Harvest distribute fresh produce to those in need at their Brooklyn Mobile Market in Bed-Stuyvesant. City Harvest’s mobile markets are a way of distributing healthy, nutrient dense food. The food to be distributed on the day will depend on what is available, but could include squash, apples, cabbage, etc – whatever is in season and has been made available to City harvest. This is part of City Harvest’s mission to not just get food to those in need, but to also ensure that food is of a high nutrient quality. Our role is to serve the customers, smile, be friendly, bag the produce and generally make the experience as dignified and pleasant as possible. This is not hard manual work; you will not feel unsafe in any way; and you will leave with a better appreciation and understanding of the needs of those less fortunate than us in our community.

We need 10 volunteers. Feel free to bring your spouse. Children are also welcome to attend.

Please email Rod at RodMillott[at]gmail.com if you need more information or to confirm your willingness to volunteer.

Food Bank For New York

As you know, one of the goals of the Foundation Team is to support charitable organizations in our community. Food Bank For New York is one of our chosen organizations.

Food Bank For New York City’s mission is to end hunger by organizing food, information and support for community survival and dignity. Working to end food poverty and increase access to affordable, nutritious food for low-income New Yorkers throughout the five boroughs, the Food Bank’s initiatives focus on direct services, food sourcing and distribution, nutrition and health education, financial empowerment, disaster relief and policy and research.

We are running a virtual food drive to help Food Bank For New York in its mission of serving those in need in our community.

Please do your part by giving to this great cause, and if you can, please ask your family or friends to do likewise.
