Meghan Newcomer won the Women’s ITT and Michael Beckerman won the Men’s Championship.
For the second year in a row the Championships were held as part of Westwood Velo’s Long Meadow TT in Tuxedo Park,NY. The course is a 14.5 loop back with rolling hills.
Christoffel Prinsloo came in second overall to win the Club Master’s 40+ crown and the deceivingly youthful Scott Willingham won the 50+ title. Phil Penman won the B Championship and had time to take some really nice pictures including the one above.
Meghan is a total newcomer to CRCA. Her 35:38 time beat Ann Marie Miller’s time from 2009 by a few seconds and got some people wondering how a total unknown could do that. She is an experienced triathlete and intended to start bike racing this year but got side tracked when she qualified for Kona. Her immediate goals are the Tri World Championships and then Kona. She enjoyed her venture into the bike racing world. The very basic down to business ,warmup then race, atmosphere, was a big contrast to the heavily hyped triathlons where she’s handed goody bags with all sorts of things that end up getting thrown out. She liked the course and although a little up and down was able to stay in her big ring.
Michael Beckerman took a minute off of his time last year when he won the B Championship.
