With arm and knee warmers in play for the last club race of the season, racers lined up for a 6:30 am start to fight it out for the Club Championship. Although each of the Jim Boyd Cup competitions were already decided, the A and B field Team Cup competitions were up for grabs.
In the Men’s A race, a five man break formed an Euris Vidal (Foundation) took the final sprint from Ken Harris (Jonathan Adler Racing) and Matt Seaton (Rapha Racing), Andrew Clerico (BH/Garneau) and David Taylor (Fuoriclasse/Discover Chiropractic). Rafael Meran (Foundation) took the field sprint for 6th place. Congratulations to Euris for winning the club Championship. The results were enough for Foundation to maintain their lead over Jonathan Adler Racing to take the Team Cup. Ariel Mendez (Jonathan Adler Racing) wins the Jim Boyd Cup with 39 points. Teammate Ken Harris was second with 29 points.
The Men’s B race was a shoot out between Foundation and Siggi’s and despite a number of break attempts, the race ultimately came down to a field sprint. With Siggi’s and Foundation sprinters both in position over the top of Cat’s Paw Hill, it was Tony Munoz (Foundation) who was able to hit the line at Engineer’s Gate first in front of team mate John Blake and three Siggi’s riders – Roger Parmelee, Michael Nelson and Josh Sakofsky. The 1,2 finish gave Foundation enough points to edge out Siggi’s after a neck and neck season long battle for the Team Cup. Tony Munoz (Foundation) was the Jim Boyd Cup winner for the season.
All the contenders were out for the Women’s race. Fabienne Gerard (Fuoriclasse/Discover Chiropractic) beat out Caryl Gale, Kristin Lotito (Houlihan-Lokey/Sanchez) and Beth Renner (NYVelocity Women’s Racing Team) to take the Women’s Club Championship. Houlihan-Lokey/Sanchez had already wrapped up the Team Cup and Kristin Lotito was the Jim Boyd Cup winner for the season.
In the Men’s C race, Efrain Molina won from Jon Bryan and Sascha Kreideweis.
