We are pleased to announce the formation of the Century Road Club Development Foundation  (“CRCDev”) which will operate to foster the development of racing cyclists and prepare cycling athletes for national and international competition. CRCDev is incorporated as a Not-For-Profit Corporation under section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. tax code.

The primary purpose of CRCDev will be to fund the operations of the Century Road Club Association Junior Development Team.  Until now the Junior Development Team has been funded largely from the general funds of CRCA.  The formation of CRCDev means that there is now a mechanism in place to fund the Junior Team’s operations in a more efficient manner.  The formation of a Not-For-Profit Corporation allows donations to be tax deductible, which has long been a goal of the CRCA Board of Directors.

In addition to funding the CRCA Junior Development Team, CRCDev may use funds to fund the development of Under-23 and other cyclists.

CRCDev will be affiliated with the Century Road Club Association but will operate as a legally separate entity.  The CRCDev Board will seek to obtain donations from CRCA members and others interested in increasing opportunities for up and coming cyclists in the New York City area.

The 2012 Board of Directors CRCDev are:

  • Ken Harris as President and Director
  • Michael Green as Vice President and Director
  • Ted Neu as Secretary and Director
  • Ben Harris as Treasurer and Director
  • Wendy Nickerson as Director
  • David Greenberg as Director
  • Rod Millott as Director

Starting in 2012, CRCA members will be able to make tax-deductible donations online to CRCDev at the time of joining CRCA or renewing their membership with CRCA.  As well, individuals and organizations will be able to make donations to CRCDev online at any time.

Please keep an eye out for the upcoming CRCDev website in the next month.  We hope all cyclists share our enthusiasm about this major step forward for cycling in the New York area.
