CRCA had a strong showing at Battenkill this year with top finishers in many fields.  It was great to see so many CRCA riders coming across the line and seeing the great results achieved.  Our Cat 3 and Cat 4 women were particularly strong today, as were the Cat 3 men – taking 8 of the top 10 placing in one field.

Near perfect weather conditions made for a great day of racing with fast times.  The course proved to be as challenging as ever as Dieter Drake appeared to organized the dumping of large stones and rocks on Cheese Factory and Wrights roads causing what seemed to be a higher number of flats than usual (or maybe it was just my poor tire selection).  Full results are posted here, but here are the highlights:

Men’s Pro/1: 7th Allan Rego (in his first race as a cat 1) & 14th, Zoltan Tisza  both of Champion System p/b Stan’s NoTubes

Women’s P/1/2: 9th Fabienne Gerard (Eumaeus Asset Mgmt-Fuoriclasse)

Men’s 2: 9th  Evan Murphy (BH Comedy Central)

Men’s 3 Pink: 1st David Anthony (BH Comedy Central), 2nd Andrew McGee, 3rd Daniel Crespo (CycleLifeUSA/GF Capital)  – CRCA in fact placed 9 in the top 11.  David Anthony has now won Battenkill as a cat 5, cat 4 and cat 3 (and is looking forward to upgrading to a Cat 2…)

Junior Men 15-16: 4th Sam Morkal-Williams (Junior Development).  Sam was in a break of about 10 riders, and made a number of attacks to get away, with each one being covered.  After dropping some of the riders in the break, a group of 6 came to the line together for the sprint.

Master’s 30+: 2nd Gregg Galletta (BH Comedy Central)
