We received the following update from the Empire Cycling team about long-time club member John Loehner. We send John best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.

On Monday evening July 28th, Dr. John Loehner was involved in a collision with a runner on Central Park Drive. He incurred a head trauma from the impact and was unconscious during the transfer to Cornell Medical Center on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. While he suffered no broken bones, the face and head impact resulted in an epidural hematoma in the left temporal region which required surgical removal on Monday night. The procedure was successful and John is expected to fully recover. He was monitored over the next 48 hours in ICU and has been transferred into standard service. He is expected to be released by Thursday or Friday of this week. His family, friends and teammates thank you for your concern and support during this time.

The runner’s condition is unknown but it seems she sustained no major injuries as she was able to leave the scene of the accident on her own.
