Cervelo Test Team, one of the top ranked UCI teams in the world announced on Dec. 30 that they have signed João Correia. João’s amazing comeback from a very over weight retired cyclist is detailed in this New York Times feature. Checkout the amazing before and after photos.

João began his comeback in 2004, when he joined CRCA. He competed in CRCA club races until 2008 when he rejoined the pro ranks with Bissell.

Since joining the club, João has been a major supporter of the CRCA Junior Development Program. His indispensable help with the junior program continues.

The club wishes João well in his new challenge with the Cervelo Test Team.

Some mock the futility of local racers but with João signing with Cervelo two recent CRCA members are now competing at the highest level in the world. Evelyn Stevens is racing for Columbia/HTC in 2010.
