As you may know recent construction at Bear Mountain has forced us to make significant changes to the event, including utilizing a revised course.
Unfortunately despite our extensive attempts to avoid this outcome the revised course only allows us to run a single field at a time – thus limiting the overall number of fields we can run in a single day.
As a result and after much deliberation we have no choice but to reduce the event to the following fields and estimated start times:
Senior Men 4 – 8:00AM
Senior Women 1/2/3 – 10:05AM
Senior Women 3/4 – 10:00AM
Masters Men 45+ / 55+ (Cat 1-4) – 12:45PM
Senior Men 3 / Masters Men 35+ (Cat 1-3) – 2:45PM
Recognizing that we have been forced to consolidate fields and despite substantial increased costs associated with the extended duration of the event, each of the categories will be scored and paid out separately.
Please refer to BikeReg and the 2011 Bear Mountain Alternate Flyer for additional
details on fields and prizes.
For those fields that are currently filled beyond the field limits (particularly the Cat 4 field) slots will be awarded in order of registration and those riders not receiving slots will automatically be placed on the wait list (again in order of registration).
Information on confirmed and wait listed riders will be distributed via BikeReg in the next 24 hours.
For those riders who receive slots but decide not to race, refunds will be available through May 8th. We sincerely encourage that any riders not planning on racing request refunds so we can move as many riders as possible from the wait list to the confirmed riders list.
We also encourage all interested women to sign up for the race so we can fill out registration for that field.
We sincerely apologize for these last minute event changes – we invested significant hours in assessing alternatives and event
revisions before deciding to move forward with the event as described.
While the overall size will be smaller we hope it brings the same excitement as in past years.
If you have any questions please reach out via BikeReg or directly to the CRCA board.
