The annual New Year’s Bear Mtn Ride is on.
The event will start with two laps of Central Park and then head over the George Washington Bridge. Meet at Engineer’s Gate at 7:30. Bring a signed USACycling waiver. You will receive a card to get signed at the Carousel House. The usual spot, the Bear Mountain Inn is closed. Further instructions about the ride will be announced. The ride finishes at Engineers Gate in Central Park.
CRCA New Year’s Day and New Year’s Eve century rides go back to before the turn of the last century. The 1903 CRCA New Year’s Eve Century went from Bedford Rest in Brooklyn to Valley Stream, L.I.
This year’s ride is a sanctioned USACycling Fun Ride. The cost to riders is free but a signed USACycling waiver is required. USACycling licenses are not required for a Fun Ride, but only licensed riders will be covered by USACycling’s supplemental medical insurance of up to $25,000. You must renew your license for 2011 before January 1 to be covered for this event.
