With overnight night rains leaving plenty of room in the fields for the committed, racers set off under dark but rain free skies this morning in the next race in our Accelerade Club Racing Series and the Women’s 3/4 Development Series p/b Bike Doctor NYC.
Smaller fields created better opportunities for successful breakaways and with less room to hide out in the field, riders were being spat out the back each lap.
In the A field, Adam Alexander (Foundation) outsprinted breakaway companions Zach Koop (Blue Ribbon-Translations) and Kyle Peppo (Rapha Racing).
The Women’s 3/4 race saw a break of three comprised of Laura Lee Vo (Radical Media), Aimee Layton (Genaro Restaurant) and Meredith Uhl (Innveration Fitness/Stan’s NoTubes) get over a minute on the field. In pushing themselves to the limit, they forgot to count laps or listen for tinkerbell and were surprised to cross the finish on their last lap and be told they were done. Bike Doctor NYC Series leader BritLee Bowman finished 4t and retains her lead.
The Men’s B race also saw a break of five riders establish itself after a couple of laps. The final sprint was taken by Stefan Singer (Siggi’s/NYVelocity) from Daniel Clark (Overstock) and Mark Petimezas (Foundation).
The C field was won by Glenn Hattrick, taking his second win of the year from David Flores (Houlihan Lokey) and Andrew Mahon (W&D Racing-NYC Velo).
With wet conditions there were unfortunately a number of incidents in today’s races. We wish a speedy recovery to all those involved.
